Monopoly

The most popular classic board game in the world has to be Monopoly. There are many variations, evolutions and translations of the game, but the basic play of the game has made it an ubiquitous, worldwide phenomenon.

Charles Darrow sold the game named Monopoly to Parker Brothers. Contrary to myth, he was not the sole inventor of the game. It was the product of several peoples' development, and the intellectual property rights of the game have been contested in court.

Since the 1930's, people all over the world have enjoyed being the boot, wheelbarrow, thimble and other iconic tokens of the game. Mr. Monopoly is everyone's Rich Uncle Pennybags. We raise hotels on the Boardwalk or Mediterranean Avenue according to our fortune. And, if we're very lucky, we'll win 2nd place in a beauty contest and collect $10.
